spadeclub 1k tourney last night, down to 15. blinds 1k/2k, i'm sitting on a little over 50k.

after 1 limper, villain who has me slightly covered raises to 65,000

If only I could've smashed my monitor. I've got a wicked cold so I didn't get much sleep wed. night, and when I really could've been smart and gone to bed early, I decided to play this thing instead. 3+ hours of work, up till 12:30, for a big fat $10. and now i'm completely wiped this morning. brutal.

Obviously I had a good amount of luck, but I think I played great also, I never chased gutshots or anything ridiculous, played the pot odds, had good reads, and definitely had some luck along the way. I'm very proud of this one.

So Close...

Took 3rd in the Spadeclub $5k weekly. Feels good to win $500, but to know how close I was to my first what I would consider "big" win and come up short... not so much.

I had one big suckout along the way. got in a hand with someone I've played against before, and who I consider one of the worst I've ever played against. I was shortstacked, picked up AJ. the donk raised & I thought it would be a good time for a stop & go. Flop was Qxx, I shoved, she calls & shows AQ. I went runner-runner for the straight and a double up that gave me the stack I needed to get to the final table.

There was one hand that I'm still agonizing about early at the FT. I call shorty all-in w/A3 soooooooted, and 2 others also called preflop. Flop comes 45K. one guy threw out 18k (which was less than half-pot) - I called. turn was a 6. Guy again bets 18k. Here's where I tanked. there were 2 flush draws on the board. I had 130k at this point with blinds at 2000/4000 (I think). To me, I felt villain had a set. there was some discussion earlier at the table about betting into side pots with shorties all-in and this guy was on the side of not doing it. And when he bet so small on the turn, i was really putting him on a set & trying to trap me. I had about 8-1 on the call so odds-wise it should've been a no-brainer, but I really thought I would be just throwing away the chips, so I agonizingly laid it down. River - 7. Of course. shorty had an 8 so I wouldn't have won that pot, but villain had AK, and I'm pretty sure I could've crippled him even with 4 to the straight out there.

Villain in that hand went on to take a big chip lead. That didn't stop me from playing back at him a few times, unfortunately I did it once too often. Once we got down to 3-handed, I was 3rd but not by much. chipleader raised or folded every hand preflop, he never limped once. So I reraised him once with AK and he folded. Reraised all-in w/99 preflop on another hand, he tanked & said he knew he had me beat, but folded, and guessed I had A9. nice.

My proudest moment of the tournament, mainly because it's the type of move I just don't usually have the cojones to make - picked up the powerful 2c6c. with blinds 3k/6k, he raised to 18k, I reraised to 50k & he called. flop came AK4 with 2 spades, he checked, I fired out 75k and he folded. In hindsight, I should've shown him I think. Getting him on tilt probably would've helped.

not long after my friend raised, I reraised w/A9, he put me all-in. At this point I had about 95k in the pot and about 110k behind, and blinds 5k/10k, so I knew I had to call, unfortunately, just hoping to see something like 88. unfortunately it was AQ, and down I went in 3rd.

I think overall I played extremely well. I'm not even too upset about the last hand because although A9 isn't exactly a monster, his raising range was enormous, he had shown a willingness to back down, and I was pretty much committed to calling all-in once it got to that point. My biggest disappointment isn't so much not winning it, it's not getting to heads up, because once it got down to 5 and there were 2 very small stacks, a big leader, then me & one other, my one major goal i had in mind was to get to heads up.

That said, I'll be more than pleased with another 3rd place finish in the 40k this week, as that would mark a $4000 payday! we'll see...

busted from one tourney this way:

AJs utg+1, raise 3xBB, one caller. flop A86, bet 1/2 pot, villain call, turn 4, bet 2/3 pot, villain call, river 7, i say to my wife "she probably has A5"... i shove, she slowrolls.... A5 FTW!!! love it

another tourney take a hit when i try to steal otb w/A9, get 2 callers, one of which is shorty w/600 who CALLS my raise to 300 ????? oh, and it was with K2 off, and of course he flops a king

one that actually worked out for me, sat. down to 14 w/9 seats, raise UTG 77, one call, flop comes K53, caller checks, i bet enough to put her allin, she calls w/A2 soooooooooted and miraculously i fade the 4.

nothing wrong here, but got crushed w/AK allin preflop twice, both times by QQ.

overall not a bad night, got my 2nd blue & 2nd red token. hopefully I can turn them into more than $40 this time.

Spade Club rollercoaster

So i'm in the 5k weekly on spade club. what a ride... here are the big hands...

#1, OTB A9, couple limpers, I limp, flop A37, i bet 3/4 pot, 1 caller, turn jack. I bet 2/3 pot, he minraises leaving only a few chips so i just put him all in, he calls w/AJ. nice pf limp. crippled

#2, double up w/AA

#3, pick up QQ, UTG raises 3xBB, i shove for another 8xBB - he calls w/AJ and flops the ace - crippled again

#4, after building back up, run 99 into shorty w/10s, crippled AGAIN

#5, follow couple limpers w/QJ (note - utg limped with a short stack, i thought this was a trap but went with the pot odds & limped along). flop K9, check around. turn was a blank, i throw out a small bet, UTG calls. river - 10... hehe... utg bets, leaving himself a big blind, i put him in, he calls & shows a perfectly-slowplayed-himself-out-of-the-tournament KK. bout dam time i did that to somebody!

#6, after getting stack back up to about 6k, pick up AA, guy to my right raises, I reraise to 3k, he calls, flop an ace w/2 hearts, he insta-allins. I instacall and he shows K2 of hearts! turn fills me up and i move into 2nd w/27k.

#7, AK, raise 3x, shorty shoves for about 3xBB more, of course i call, he shows 33 and i brick out, back down to 22k.

#8, after getting back up to 27k and blinded down to 25, openraise A8 suited, shorty calls leaving 1/2 bb behind so i bet into him on whiffed flop and he shows AK, back down to 22k

#9, 2 hands later, a rare race win w/77 vs. AK, up to 33k

#10, 2 hands after #9, call shorty all in w/AJ from BB w/a-10, catch a 10, up to 42k

#11, in a hand with Allyn Shulman, she'd been getting smacked in the face with the deck all night from what i'd seen (chip leader by a lot), but i did see her fold to the only reraise she faced when open raising late. so i picked up Ac9c in SB. Allyn open raises, i reraise and she calls. not at all what i wanted. flop J7J. i tank for a second and she types "be careful". so i check, she shoves. then she types "fh". guess trying to build a nice image for the site, so i lay down and sure enough she shows 77. RIGGED!!!! down to 34k

from this point, absolutely stone cold card dead. couldn't get something even remotely playable. finally picked up Ad5d & openshoved 6xBB into JJ. gg out in 14th.

why am I so f'ing STUPID???

I guess I'll just never learn not to slowplay AA before the flop. on .25/.50 NL table on UB, picked them up UTG+1. UTG minraised. this was the one LAG at my table, and I thought I could have a great chance to bust him on the right flop, so I flatted. unfortunately that donkey move brought a few others into the pot. Flop comes KJx with 2 diamonds. not good. UTG bet $4, I raised to $10. LP guy calls & UTG Calls. i'm mildly worried about KJ from UTG, but at this point I'm putting LP on a draw & UTG on any number of possibilities. Turn is, of course, a king. it gets checked around. hmmm... river is a blank. UTG checks, I check. LP blasts it. oh boy, this can't be good. so i tanked. i really had a hard time putting him on a king because he didnt raise the flop, and he didn't bet the turn. I thought maybe JJ or set of whatever the rag card was on the flop because then the play might make sense, but i think JJ would've reraised pf. So i was left with a busted draw, so I finally decided to call. and he shows... KJ, offsuit. this guy was tight enough if i rr pf, i highly doubt he's playing KJ off. I have gotten killed so many times by slowplaying AA preflop, you'd think at some point I'd drop it from my repertoire. I should have known calling would just open up the hand to too many players, but instead my UB acct is now BUSTO! Ironically, i think the guy made a big mistake not raising the flop with all the draws out there, but he played turn & river to perfection and made my pay for my mistake in a big way. Of course the ridiculously foul luck doesn't help. but this is one case where I know I created my own bad luck, so I guess that's a start at least.

Earlier at a .25/.50 NL table on UB, I raise 4.5xBB w/AK, flop comes 10 8 4 rainbow, i bet 3/4 pot, villain calls. check-check turn & river - he had KQ and rivered a queen. Called a $5 bet on a 10-8-4 flop with KQ ?!?!!?!??!?!?! I can't even describe the feeling of constantly losing to moron after moron, with some of the most insanely asinine plays you will ever see. Believe me, I would much rather see all these idiots fade away. but I guess the only way i'll see that is to not play online.

edit - I should note a few hands later I picked up 5/6 offsuit and mr. KQ minraised, I was seriously tilting and hoping i could catch a miracle flop and get revenge - flop A56 - BINGO! doubled up against his A9. ha! take that donkey! lol

started this post, got sidetracked and forgot about it. oh well. went for a token, cards beat me down.

down to $22. can't even get into details cause i really don't remember. basically it's like this - i can't catch a draw to save my life, and when i do it doesnt get paid off, and i think i've seen AA once and nothing else better than like AJ in my last few sessions. it's been enormously painful.

next time i play i'm taking the $22 to a .25/.50 table, and i'm either gonna do something good or go broke.

So i got the "roll" up to $72 on UB playing .25/.50 NL. Took about a $3 hit this morning and sat back down tonight. I've been sitting down with $15 (I know I am not even remotely following standard br mgmt rules, this acct started w/$10 free from the site, so i'm just trying to gamble and make something out of it.) Buyin #1 went away when I shoved on diamond flop holding Ad, but couldnt complete it against the made 10-high flush. rebought, won a nice pot when i flopped a set of 4s against AA in an unraised pot (lol). then it came... K9 sooooooooted, followed 4 limpers, flop 997. i bet $1, mr. no raise w/AA miniraises to $2, big stack raises to $4. I reraise to $10, no raise folds and big stack puts me all in. i actually hesitated here, thinking A9 or 77 but figured if he had that then oh well, so i call. he shows 10-9. YES!!! turn - 10.

WTF?!!!@#@#@!# I mean seriously, what did the retard possibly think i had?????? this is just another example of my problem with online idiots. everybody says "oh, you want the donkeys at your table so you can take their money" BULLSHIT!!!!!!! I can't even count the amount of money i've lost to complete donkey schmucks like this one. it happens over and over and over and over again. so yes, I would much rather play better players. i can live with getting outplayed. i have a very hard time dealing with getting out-donked!
